my chihuahua acts same way kind of. he is sweet to everyone unless they try to hug me. he is very protective of me.

These dogs vary in behavior. I have a chihuahua, and he's very friendly towards people, will let them pet him and carry him, but he can't stand other dogs. In fact, he'll run right up to pitbulls, if I let him off the leach. They're crazy.
